Applicants may be assessed and selected at any time of the year based upon their Baccalaureate II, Lebanese System, examination results and/or their Grade 12, American System, examination results, and/or their Baccalaureate Technique examination results. The admission to school of engineering is subjected to the following conditions.
Baccalaureate II, Lebanese System
A candidate should have earned the Lebanese Baccalaureate with an overall average of at least 50 %, the category of the Lebanese is listed below:
General Science
Natural Science
Social Science
Humanities
Baccalaureate Technique (BT); can only continue in the relevant filed of the baccalaureate technique
Entrance Examination
Any candidate who has met the requirement of Clause in 3.1 is required to sit for an Entrance examination and pass the TOFEL with a minimum of 535 and satisfy the University English Requirements, UER. The entrance test(s) include the following subjects:
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Assessments of Entrance Examinations
Scores a candidate earned from the governmental examination and entrance examination are averaged, that is, the weights of governmental examination and entrance examination are fifty percent respectively. Averaged result of each of the subjects is compared to the following table and the candidate is placed accordingly.

Classification
Any candidate who was exempted fully from the aforementioned passing criteria is accepted in General Engineering; after one semester in general engineering the student will select one of the aforesaid majors (Section 3). However, the selection of the major is subjected to school’s approval and the student might be advised to choose a different major.
Any candidate who is accepted and placed in remedial courses (Table 3.1), will be in General Engineering, however, the candidate cannot choose a major unless all remedial courses are passed.
Applications for admission in a master program should be submitted before the end of September and definitely before the end of the first week of fall semester. However, Applicants may be assessed and selected at any time of the year based upon their Bachelors degrees.

Course Transfer Criteria
Courses taken at Universities and Institutions accredited by the ministry of higher education can, in principle, be accredited by LIU. Course transfer criteria adapted by the School of Engineering are as follows:
- Transfer of undergraduate credits from other institutions to LIU should not exceed 49 % of total required credits, and not more than 50 % of the major courses; the remaining 51 % of credits must be taken at LIU.
- Description of courses taken at other universities is needed to determine whether a course is transferable or not. This is necessary because course codes and titles can be misleading.
- Transfer of credits can be accepted only by Dean/Chair, provided courses were taken at an accredited university/institution and it is a straightforward transfer, that is, no course can be accepted for another course.
- A candidate who earned a Bachelor degree in computer or communication in science can be accepted in an engineering Bachelor program. The maximum number of credits that can be transferred is sixty-four. Furthermore, the same rules apply for candidates holding a degree from Diplôme Universitaire De Technologie DUT.
- A candidate who earned a Bachelor degree in engineering and wishes to continue his masters but in a different field of engineering is subjected to rule d (referred to above).
- A candidate who has earned a degree in science from the Lebanese University LU (Four years) can directly join the master program with some remedial courses if needed.
- A candidate who has earned a degree from Institute Universitaire De Technologie IUT can directly join the master program if and only if the candidate wishes to continue in the same domain, otherwise rule d applies.
Transferable courses are subject to passing grades shown in table 2 below:
